Student Arrested After Monroe City Schools’ Drug Search
A student was taken into custody as the result of a search for drugs at the Monroe City High School and Middle School last week.
Monroe City Police report a K-9 search for illegal contraband and drugs was conducted in cooperation with school officials last Friday.
The K-9 unit alerted on a passenger car in the parking lot, resulting in the seizure of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
As a result, one student was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of tobacco and minor in possession of alcohol.
Officials say no contraband was found in the school buildings.
Assisting Monroe City Police in the search were the Highway Patrol, Shelbina Police and Clarence Police K-9 units, Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the NEMO Drug Task Force.
