October 5&6 - In partnership with WHITETAILS UNLIMITED starting 9:00amSaturday-1pm Sunday. Take an opportunity to spend 2 days, 1 night at Gardner Camp during the most beautiful time of year – when the Fall colors along the Mississippi River bluffs are striking and the weather is ideal. We will provide youth with hands-on, interactive shooting and field experience to prepare for the bow season. Experienced instructors will take time teaching bowhunting field techniques – shot placement, blood trailing, game retrieval, tree stand safety and more. Mixed in we will feature friendly competitions, plenty of time to interact with other campers with similar interests and traditional camp activities. This year we will be featuring the Perryman Family of God.Family.Hunting, a TV show on the Pursuit Channel. The Perryman family will be staging their outdoor 3-D Pop-Up Simulation Archery Range.

October 6th - GARDNER CAMP, starting at 2pm-5pm. This season we are celebrating our Illinois state animal, the White-tailed Deer, during our kickoff to the Fall season! Join us, as we partner with Whitetails Unlimited, during the most colorful time of year at Gardner Camp. We will have lots of whitetail-focused activities for youth to enjoy. Also, we are honored to bring the Perryman family to our area! The Perryman's produce a TV Show called God.Family.Hunting on the Pursuit channel. They will be setting up their 3-D Pop-Up Archery Range. The Perryman's tour the country setting up archery tournaments with this unique and exciting archery range! Take on other father/daughter, father/son, mother/son, mother/daughter or any other combination in this archery tournament (NOTE: bring your own archery equip). We will also have a certified scorer to score antlers. You may bring your own antlers for this activity!

October 12 – The JWCC Softball 5K Run/Walk will take place on October 12th. Registration will start at 8:30 with the run starting at 10 am flowed by the walk at 10:10 am at the John Wood Campus.

 October 14 - Quincy University Community Relations; Messenger of Peace is a new theatrical portrait of Francis of Assisi by Franciscan Friar Robert M. Hutmacher, OFM. A Quincy performance will be about ninety minutes consisting of ten scenes, each of which conveys the story of a significant person whose life was radically changed by Francis. Based on the 13th Century chronicles of people who lived with or encountered him personally; this is a very insightful, intimate experience of the saint. The play presents the saint's powerful message of reconciliation, which these artists feel is needed more than ever in our contemporary world. Location: 1721 College Avenue Quincy, IL 62301. Performance 7pm-9pm

October 17 - Meals on Wheels is holding a Cook’s Night Off event on the third Thursday of the month throughout 2019. It’s a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program as they offer eat-in, carry-out, or drive thru meals for just $7 each.  All meals include either Fried Chicken or Roast Beef, two side dishes, bread and dessert.  The hours for each 3rd Thursday of each month are 4 to 6pm at the Senior Center at 639 York Street.

October 19 - The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary invites the public to attend “Trés Chic, a purse, jewelry and accessories auction to be held on Saturday, October 19th at The Kroc Center, 405 Vermont, Quincy. The event will take place from 10 AM – 3 PM at the Kroc Center in Quincy.

October 19 – QCPAAA is having their yearly fundraiser at Applebee's on October 19th from 8am-10am!!! Tickets are $5.00. I'm enclosing the attachment where you can print off and sell tickets to help us raise some money.

October 26 – The Immanuel United Methodist Church in canton, Missouri will hold their annual church dinner on Saturday, October 26 starting at 4:30 pm. The dinner will include turkey & ham (homemade noodles) with carry-outs available. The Country store will have seasonal items, unique gifts, jams & jellies all the proceeds collected support Church Missions.

October 26 – The Quincy Tri-0State Homeless Veterans Stand Down event will take place at the National Guard Armory located at 702 Koch’s Lane in Quincy. October 27 – The St. Edwards 71th Annual Turkey Dinner will be held on Sunday, October 27from 11 am to 2 pm at the St. Edwards Catholic Church located at 214 S. State RD in Mendon. The meal is a family style dining and includes turkey, homemade dressing, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and dessert. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 5-10, ages 4 and under eat free. Carry out meals are also available for $10 each. Tickets are available at the door.

October 27 – The 7th Annual Tri-State Warrior Run/Walk will take place at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. You can sign-up online at active.com or the day of the race. Registration/Sign-in starts at 7:30 at the American Legion Shelter House near the lake. The race will kick off at 9 am. Find Tri-State warrior Outreach on Facebook for more information.

October 28 - Kevin Hines Story: Suicide Awareness and Prevention will be at the Hannibal LaGrange University in the Roland Fine Arts Center at 2800 Palmyra Road Hannibal MO, 63401 on October 28th to share his story of hope and celebration of life! Be there as Kevin tells his story of an unlikely survival and his strong will to live after attempting to take his life by jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge. Being one of only 34 (less than 1%) of jumpers in this location to ever survive and the only one to be spreading the message of living mentally healthy around the globe. Featuring; Kevin Hines-mental health advocate, global speaker, best selling author, documentary filmmaker and entrepreneur.
