FBI Now Searching Missouri Rural Area for Girl Missing Since 1989
The Missouri Highway Patrol has revealed that the FBI is now involved in an investigation about the disappearance of a Missouri girl who's been missing since 1989. A rural area is now being searched by authorities in hopes of turning up new evidence in this cold case.
A new press release by the Missouri Highway Patrol has provided a big update to the case of Gina Dawn Brooks who went missing on August 5, 1989. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says she was last seen at approximately 10pm on August 5, 1989 riding her bike. A witness heard a scream and her bike was found, but Gina was never located.
There is now a new investigation with the combined forces of Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, and the Fredericktown Police Department of a rural Missouri property in Bollinger County. The Missouri Highway Patrol says no human remains were found, but they did say "items of possible evidentiary value were collected". They're now being analyzed in a lab.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says that witnesses on August 5, 1989 did hear a car driving off after the scream was heard. The Missouri Highway Patrol hopes this new investigation will finally bring closure to this case.
