Heavy rains and severe storms are a possibility for northeast Missouri and western Illinois Wednesday and Thursday.

For the Hannibal/Quincy area, the National Weather Service calls for a good chance of showers and thunderstorms from Wednesday morning through Thursday night. Along with the storms, forecasters say large hail and damaging winds could be a part of the picture.

While no watches or warnings are posted for the immediate area, there is a flash flood watch from Wednesday night through Friday morning for most of central and southern Illinois east of the Illinois River. This includes Scott and Morgan counties in western Illinois.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln says three to four inches of rain could fall between now and Friday morning, mainly in an area between Interstate 72 and Interstate 70.
