A slow moving string of strong thunderstorms dumped several inches of rain on the area, leaving wide spread flash flooding in its wake.

From overnight Monday through midday Tuesday, the Hannibal Filter Plant reported about 3.6 inches of rain, with anywhere from 2 to 6 inches of rain reported in and around Quincy.

In Quincy, flooding and sinkholes were reported on Seminary Road. A number of streets were flooded, including the 33rd and Broadway area near the Quincy Mall.

There was also flash flooding in Marblehead Tuesday morning.

In Hannibal, there were reports of flooding on Ely Street and Grand Avenue.

The chance of more rain continues through Wednesday morning, with the flash flood watch for the area extended through 1 p.m. Wednesday.
