The trial of a Quincy man charged in the 2015 shooting death of another Quincy man has been delayed.

At a status hearing Wednesday in Adams County Circuit Court, the case of 55 year old Steven Gavin was taken off the February jury trial docket.

The delay was granted so that Gavin’s public defender could review subpoenaed phone records and to give Gavin time to consider his options regarding a possible conflict of interest his attorney may have.

Gavin is charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of 48 year old Carlous Wires, allegedly over a disagreement about a drug purchase.

Gavin will be back in court for a status hearing January 24th.

He is in the Adams County Jail on $5-million dollars bond.
