Change of Venue Denied in Steven Gavin Murder Trial
A change of venue was denied Friday in the retrial of a Quincy man on first degree murder charges.
In Adams County Circuit Court, Judge Robert Adrian denied a motion by the attorney of Steven Gavin for a change of venue, citing extensive media coverage in the first trial.
Gavin is charged with four counts of first degree murder and one count of armed robbery in the shooting death of Carlous Wires in November of 2015.
Gavin’s first trial in February ended in a mistrial when the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict.
Gavin’s retrial is scheduled to start April 8th, with a pre-trial hearing set for March 29th.
