Cole County Jury Finds James Addie Guilty of First Degree Murder
It took a Cole County jury just two-and-a-half hours to find a Monroe County man guilty of first degree murder Thursday.
At the end of a four day trial, the jury found 54 year old James Addie of Santa Fe guilty of murder and armed criminal action in the death of 35 year old Molly Watson.
Addie is alleged to have had a seven year affair with Watson, and the two were engaged to be married, even though Addie was married and had been for 23 years.
A day before Addie and Watson’s wedding day, Addie allegedly shot Watson to death on a rural Monroe County gravel road.
The trial was held in Cole County on a change of venue from Monroe County.
A sentencing hearing for Addie is scheduled for June 29th.
