Authorities in Lewis County are investigating an apparent accidental shooting that resulted in the death of an Arnold, Missouri man.

Sheriff David Parrish reports that deputies were called to a hunting cabin on Highway Y in rural Lewistown at 4:20 a.m. Saturday.

The initial investigation revealed that 52 year old Randell Reising of Arnold was in the cabin with friends. Reising woke up at 4 a.m. to prepare for the morning hunt and was accidentally shot in the chest by a friend and fellow hunter, identified as 50 year old Steven Lewis, also of Arnold.

Reising was pronounced dead at 5:22 a.m. Saturday by Lewis County Coroner Larry Arnold.

An autopsy will be performed by the Boone County Medical Examiner’s office.
