Trial Date Set for 2019 for Curtis Lovelace Lawsuit
A trial date has been set for the lawsuit filed by former Adams County Prosecutor Curtis Lovelace.
The federal suit has been set for trial to begin October 15th, 2019, with a final pre-trial conference set two weeks prior to trial.
Lovelace was acquitted of first degree murder charges in March in Sangamon County, after his first trial in Adams County ended in a hung jury about a year earlier.
Lovelace filed suit in May against eleven defendants, including the city of Quincy, Adams County, the Adams County Coroner and State’s Attorney and several members of the Quincy Police Department.
Lovelace says he filed the suit because he was deprived of his constitutional right to a fair trial by withholding and suppressing exculpatory and impeachment evidence and by fabricating evidence against him.
