Attorneys for the city of Quincy Monday filed an updated response to a federal lawsuit filed last spring by Curtis Lovelace and his family.

Lovelace filed suit against the city, the Adams County Coroner and State’s Attorney and several members of the Quincy Police Department.

Lovelace alleges that he was deprived of due process and was the subject of malicious prosecution in the murder case in which he was eventually found not guilty of killing his first wife.

The city denies the allegations in the 11-count suit and states that the Quincy Police Department is entitled to qualified immunity and that they are immune from liability under Illinois Tort Immunity Act.
