Trial Date Set for Kirksville Man in Shooting Death of Wife

A trial date has been set for a Kirksville man charged with shooting his estranged wife to death over two years ago.

In Adair County Circuit Court, a trial date was set for May 19th for 42 year old Danny Welte.

Welte has pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of 41 year old Echo Leanne Welte in November of 2016.

Danny Welte is alleged to have shot Echo Welte in the back of the head during an argument in the parking lot of the Kirksville Days Inn.

Danny Welte is in the Adair County Law Enforcement Center on $1-million dollars cash only bond.
