Teen Fatally Shot in Rockford, Illinois

A 17-year-old boy has been fatally shot on the far west side of Rockford.

Officers were called at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and found the teen suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on a residential driveway. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The teen's identity hasn't been released pending notification of family members.

A man was questioned after the shooting, but police say they haven't identified any witnesses or suspects.

The Rockford Register Star reports that the teen's slaying is the city's third shooting death in less than two weeks and its 19th homicide this year. The city recorded 17 homicides in 2014.
