15 Illinois Flooring Stores Closing – Company Plans to Liquidate
After years of lawsuits and a complete rebranding, a major flooring brand has announced plans to liquidate which will result in the closing of 15 Illinois locations.
CNN has announced the plans for an entire flooring company to sell everything and then close its doors. LL Flooring has announced Chapter 11 bankruptcy liquidation plans and say the process should be complete by the end of September. They stopped taking appointments last week and say that closing sales have begun.
The official LL Flooring website says the brand has 15 Illinois locations:
- Arlington Heights(1)
- Bolingbrook(1)
- Champaign(1)
- Crystal Lake(1)
- East Peoria(1)
- Fairview Heights(1)
- Lombard(1)
- Naperville(1)
- Rockford(1)
- South Elgin(1)
- Springfield(1)
- Tinley Park(1)
- Geneva(1)
- Bloomington(1)
- Mundelein(1)
The story announcing the closures said that the downfall began when LL Flooring was known as Lumber Liquidators during an investigation by 60 Minutes into "company products with formaldehyde that exceeded regulatory standards". That led to a class action lawsuit from customers who were impacted over a 6 year period. The report also says that $33 in penalties were assigned to the company.
