Search Underway for Ralls County Carjacking Suspect

UPDATE: The suspect has been located and was arrested at approximately 1:30 pm on Monday. He was located on foot near New London. He is currently in the Marion County Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Ralls County Sheriff's Office is currently searching for a man wanted in connection with an armed car jacking that originated in Hannibal shortly after 5:00 pm.

The suspect exited the stolen vehicle at the Love's Truck Stop in New London and police brought in additional resources (including a K9 unit) to set up a perimeter. The suspect remains at large.

A suspect, described as a "white male approximately 40 years of age with medium build and short red hair", is believed to be passing through the area and a possible hitchhiker. He was last seen in a baseball cap, dark grey shirt, and camouflage cargo shorts.

The Sheriff's office asks the public to report any suspicious activity and to refrain from picking up hitchhikers.
