Rockford Man Gets 20 Years for Fatal Shooting
A 21-year-old Rockford man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing a 16-year-old boy in 2011.
The Rockford Register Star reports Shawnee Clanton pleaded guilty this week to a charge of second-degree murder in the slaying of Marcell Egan. The felony charge carries a sentence of four to 20 years. Clanton was 17 at the time of the shooting.
Police say they found Egan suffering from a gunshot wound when they were called to Patriots' Gateway Community Center in April 2011. The teen later died at the hospital.
