Pittsfield Shooting Under Investigation

Authorities say one man is in critical condition following a shooting Tuesday in Pittsfield.
Pittsfield Police, Pike County Sheriff’s deputies and Illinois State Police responded to a
family disturbance in the 100 block of West Lafayette. Reports indicate that during the
investigation… 32 year old Chaz Carter of Pittsfield exited a residence and shot a 55 year old family member in the presence of law enforcement. An unnamed police officer returned fire. The suspect was not injured and was taken into custody with use of a taser. The shooting  victim was taken to Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield and transferred to an undisclosed hospital. An investigation by Illinois State Police continues.
