It all starts Wednesday night as the Quincy Gems come to Clemens Field for the 2014 Prospect League opener.  Game time is 7:05. We’ll have the pregame here on khmoradio.com beginning at 6:45.

Only one ballplayer with this year’s Cavemen team has prior experience here.  Dylan Terrill was an all star a couple years ago. Manager Jay Hemond says Terrill “knows how to pitch and is very  reliable so we’re happy to get him back.”

That turnover wasn’t by design. Hemond says last year’s team featured a lot of players in their final year of eligibility. “I think the lineup’s going to score some runs, so if the pitching can hold people down, we’ll be successful.”

Hannibal opens the season with a four game home stand. Quincy is here tonight, followed by Springfield on Thursday, Terre Haute on Friday and Danville on Saturday.
