The Hannibal Hoots announced today that flood damage has washed away hopes of Prospect League baseball returning to Clemens Field in 2019. Flooding on nearby Bear Creek forced the Hoots to move its early season home games to QU Stadium in Quincy. The Hoots had planned to return to Hannibal’s Clemens Field on June 28th. Now the team will play the remainder of its home games in Quincy.

Hoots’ team officials say the playing surface and the grandstand decking at Clemens Field suffered significant damage from being underwater and could not be repaired in time to finish out this season.

Although rivals when the two teams meet on the field, Hoots’ officials commend the Quincy Gems Prospect League team for graciously stepping up to the plate and making their resources available in a time of need.
