It wasn't pretty, but it was a win.
Hannibal took and early 2-0 lead with a couple unearned runs in the top of the first before the Gems got rolling with six runs in the bottom of the third. Quincy added two more in the fourth to lead 8-3. Hoots reliever Kyle Rosenfeld stopped the Gems cold from there. He limited Quincy to one run the rest of the way.  The Hoots made it a one run game in the top of the fifth--the big hit was a three run triple by Brett Zimmerman.  Zimmerman got things going with a leadoff walk in the 7th. He went to third on a throwing error on a sacrifice. and a hit by Nathan Kuhn put Hannibal into the lead. Both pitching staffs struggled. Hoots pitchers walked 9. Gems hurlers issued ten walks. There were over 400 pitches thrown during the contest. Quincy also committed six errors.

Hannibal is on the road tonight at Normal. Quincy hosts Springfield.
