One Dead Following Traffic Crash Near Kinderhook

A one vehicle crash Saturday evening in Kinderhook claims the life of a New Canton man.
Pike County Sheriff’s deputies say a car driven by 93 year old Richard Schutte was northbound on Illinois 96 when it veered off the road and hit a gas line south of Illinois 106. Passers-by extricated Schutte from the vehicle. Schutte was taken by survival flight to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield where he died of his injuries. Traffic was shut down in the area for about two hours for repairs to the gas line.
