The old Champ Clark Bridge will close permanently Thursday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports that, weather permitting, the original Champ Clark Bridge will close to traffic for good Thursday.

The new bridge opened August 3rd, but the old bridge was kept open until a connecting road was finished from Highway 54 to the Two Rivers Marina on the Illinois end of the bridge.

Once the 90 year old structure is closed to traffic, the old bridge deck will be removed, with the demolition of the truss to take place later this fall.
