Quincy Police report the Adams County Animal Warden inspected the former Quincy Animal Shelter on North 24th Street Thursday.

The inspection came in response to protesters who expressed concern over the animals housed in the shelter.

Police say the inspection showed the shelter was clean and the animals appeared to be properly taken care of.

The owner of the building, Dr. Andrew Kaiser, is allowed to have animals in his building, but his animal shelter license expired at the end of June, so no animals can be adopted from the shelter.

Dr. Kaiser’s contract to run the city’s shelter was terminated when he was charged with animal cruelty in May.
