A change in story from a witness results in the dropping of animal cruelty charges against a Hannibal man.
29 year old Nicholas Mitchell was accused of felony animal abuse after a cat was killed with a bow and arrow. Marion County Prosecutor David Clayton says the move was not his decision. Clayton says his office presented evidence but the primary witness claim to be intoxicated at the time who himself has a criminal history and changed his story and was deemed not credible. Clayton says the defendant did not confess to the crime nor did anyone else admit him doing it and that made it difficult to prove the charges.
