Tuesday is municipal election day in Missouri and Illinois, with a number of contested races and propositions on the ballot.

In Hannibal, incumbent Mayor James Hark faces the challenge of Lou Barta.

The only contested city council race in Hannibal is in the Fourth Ward, with Alan Bowen facing Bill Hatton.

Five candidates are vying for two seats on the Hannibal School Board, with incumbents J’nelle Lee and Linda Clark joined by Patrick Benson, Nicole Thomure and Michael Routh on the ballot.

Other issues on the ballot in Hannibal include Proposition “S” to set up a stormwater system maintenance fund and Proposition CARE, a no-tax increase levy for HVAC updates and security and safety improvements for the Hannibal Public Schools.

And, if you vote in Hannibal’s Fourth Ward, remember that you are voting in the Hannibal Nutrition Center instead of the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

Polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
