A Monroe City man who came to the aid of a state trooper is honored by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

In a ceremony December 23rd, Steven Williams received the Missouri State Highway Patrol Honorary Trooper Certificate.

Last August, Williams stopped his car and assisted a trooper who was in a physical altercation with an intoxicated subject who was resisting arrest.
Williams helped the trooper physically restrain the suspect so he could be handcuffed.

The Honorary Trooper Certificate is presented to citizens who are nominated by a trooper for performing in an exemplary manner under dangerous conditions.
