Kirksville Woman Charged with Murder in Death of Newborn Infant

A Highway Patrol investigation results in the arrest of a Kirksville woman on murder charges Friday.

The Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control was contacted by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office about a child death.

The investigation revealed that a woman had given birth in a restroom toilet in a Sullivan County business. The infant was later found dead.

28 year old Makuya Kambamba of Kirksville was arrested in connection with the incident.

She was charged Friday with first degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and abuse or neglect of a child.

Kambamba is being held without bond.
