One Man In Custody Following Pursuit from New London to Hannibal
A pursuit by law enforcement agents Tuesday morning starts with a careless and imprudent driving complaint and ends with a crash.
Ralls County Sheriff Gerry Dinwiddie says a check of the vehicle license revealed the vehicle was reported stolen in Columbia. A deputy located the vehicle in the Casey’s parking lot in New London. Deputies say the driver deliberately backed into the patrol car, hit pylons in the parking lot and drove from the scene. During the pursuit towards Hannibal, the vehicle struck another patrol car and an unrelated civilian vehicle before the suspect vehicle came to a stop and the driver fled on foot. Jeramie Charlton of New London was taken into custody and is currently held on a Marion County probation violation following a March 2019 burglary conviction. The incident is under review by the Ralls County Prosecutor’s office.
