The Hoots led 5-3 going into the bottom of the ninth, but Quincy would tie the game, scoring twice on an RBI triple by center fielder Francisco Rodriguez, who would later score on an error.

The game stayed tied until the 13th inning, when Goecks led off with a home run for the Hoots. Tyler Lunger, in his fifth inning of relief, retired the Gems in order in the bottom of the inning for the win.
