It was a rough night at QU Stadium for the Hannibal Hoots Tuesday, losing 10-3 to the Quincy Gems.

Quincy scored early and often, turning three singles into a run in the first.

The Hoots tied the game in the second on a single, an error and a sacrifice fly by catcher Brady West. But the Gems took the lead for good in the bottom of the second on a walk, a stolen base and a single.

Quincy added three in the third on three singles and a double, single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh, and two more in the eighth.

Hannibal mounted a rally in the ninth, scoring twice on an RBI single by pinch hitter Duante DeCello and a bases loaded walk to right fielder Stephen Haring.

Hoots' starting pitcher Dylan Marble took the loss.

Hannibal's record drops to 16-20. Quincy improves to 17-21.

The Hoots and the Gems meet again Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. at Clemens Field.
