The Hannibal Hoots lost to the Quincy Gems for the second consecutive night Wednesday, losing 4-2 at Clemens Field.

Quincy got on the board early, scoring twice in the first on a walk, a single and a two-run double by first baseman Riley Pittman. The Gems posted single runs in the fourth and the seventh on RBI base hits by DH Bailey Montgomery and center fielder Cody Klotz.

The Hoots rallied in the late innings, scoring a run in the seventh on a walk, a double and a fielder's choice by third baseman Duante DeCello. They scored another run in the eighth when first baseman Connor Pasko walked, went to third on a single by right fielder Aaron Goecks and scored when Goecks was thrown out trying to steal.

Dalton Overstreet was the starter and losing pitcher for Hannibal.

The Hoots' record drops to 16-21, while the Gems improve to 18-21.

Hannibal has a double header at Danville Thursday.
