Goldberg Faces Second Degree Murder Charges in Father’s Death
Second degree murder and armed criminal action charges are filed against a man accused of killing his father in Hannibal. Marion County Prosecutor David Clayton filed the charges Monday in Marion County Circuit Court against 30-year-old Carl Goldberg.
The complaint says Goldberg shot his father, 84-year-old Carl Maxwell with a crossbow sometime between December 13 of 2014 and February 20 of 2015. Maxwell’s body was found in house at 2034 Broadway on October 6 of 2015. The body was discovered by an inspection and repair company employee. The probable cause statement indicates the last post on Maxwell’s Facebook account was made on February 17, 2015.
Goldberg was arrested in Las Vegas in mid November and brought back to Marion County on charges of financial exploitation of an elderly person. He is held in the Marion County Jail.
