Members of Center’s City Council void an earlier vote to dismiss the town’s police chief.
A week ago council members voted 2-1 to dismiss Police Chief David Ray. Officials now say that vote was illegal. Missouri law requires the governing body to provide written notice to the chief no fewer than ten business days prior to the meeting. Removal also requires three votes following a hearing. Center’s city attorney and one alderman were absent at last week’s meeting.
Council members voted 3-2 Wednesday night with Mayor Dennis McMillen voting to void the previous vote.
