Ballinger Accused of Manslaughter in Quincy Death
A man is charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a weekend shooting death near Quincy.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that Adam County prosecutors also accused 21-year-old Zachary Ballinger of Quincy of possessing marijuana with plans to sell it.
Authorities say 21-year-old Austin Hermann was shot and killed shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday at a home just outside of Quincy. His body was found on a porch, and Ballinger was arrested at the scene.
Sheriff Brent Fischer and the county's state's attorney, Jon Barnard, aren't publicly discussing what may have led to the shooting.
A message seeking comment was left Monday for Ballinger's attorney, Casey Schnack.
