Authorities Call Shooting Death Self Defense
The shooting death of a Pike County, Missouri man is being called self-defense.
Authorities say 38-year-old Clinton Dorsett Collins was shot up to four times in the chest at a rural Annada home just after 7:40 p.m. Saturday (May 23). The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Jim Turner.
Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte said in a statement Sunday that the homeowner apparently acted in self-defense. He added the investigation continued and that additional witnesses were being sought.
No other details were released. Court records show the sheriff’s department served an order of protection to Collins in January. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday (May 27) in Columbia.
