After a weekend that served as a preview of early summer, the above normal temperatures are expected to continue, with stormy weather also a possibility in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters expect high temperatures to remain in the low to mid 80s through Thursday, dropping only into the upper 70s for Mother's Day weekend. Lows throughout the week will settle into the low to mid 60s.

Tuesday and Tuesday night are the only times precipitation is not predicted for the area. Forecasters say the best chance for severe thunderstorms is late Monday afternoon and evening, with large hail and damaging winds a possibility.

Otherwise, after slight chances of rain Wednesday and Wednesday night, there is at least a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday through Sunday.
