Vandalia Man Dies in Pike County Crash

A Vandalia man is dead as the result of a single-vehicle crash on Route V east of Vandalia in Pike County at 4:55 p.m. Friday.

The Highway Patrol reports 36 year old Chad Hays was eastbound when he suffered a medical condition, causing his SUV to run off the road and down an embankment.

Hays was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 12 year old Alyssa Hays, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to SSM Health Center Audrain in Mexico for treatment.
