Two men are killed and two are seriously injured in a car-semi crash on Highway 54 at Highway 154 in Pike County just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

The Highway Patrol reports 22 year old William McFarlane of Hannibal was eastbound on 154, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided head on with a westbound semi, driven by an Indiana man.

Two of McFarlane’s passengers, 19 year old Miguel Mendez of New London and 23 year old Jacob Hamm of Hannibal, were pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Harry Nelson.

McFarlane and a third passenger, 23 year old Landon Leake of Hannibal, suffered serious injuries. McFarlane was taken to University Hospital in Columbia. Leake was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

 

An Arbela man dies from injuries suffered in a car-truck crash on Highway 136 west of Luray in Clark County just before 10 a.m. Friday.

The Highway Patrol reports 82 year old Billie Orton of Arbela was westbound, attempted to turn into a driveway and was struck by an eastbound pickup, driven by Richard Buford of Downing.

Orton was taken to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, where he was pronounced dead.

 

Seven Kansas City, Kansas residents are hurt, two of them seriously, in an SUV crash on Highway 36 east of Monroe City in Ralls County just after 5 a.m. Saturday.

The Highway Patrol reports 41 year old Claude Muyoboke was eastbound when his SUV ran off the road and overturned, coming to rest on its wheels.

Muyoboke and one of his passengers, Bosco Habakwiha, were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Five others passengers, including three women, one man and a one year old boy, were all taken to Hannibal Regional with minor injuries.

 

A Philadelphia couple suffer minor injuries in a pickup crash on Highway 168 west of Palmyra in Marion County at 2:40 p.m. Sunday.

The Highway Patrol reports 61 year old Terry Dennis was westbound when his truck ran off the road and overturned, coming to rest on its side.

Terry Dennis and his passenger, 52 year old Kathleen Dennis, were taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for treatment.

 

A Hannibal woman escapes with minor injuries in an SUV-pickup crash on Highway 19 south of New London in Ralls County at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

The Highway Patrol reports 19 year old Blain Potter of Hannibal was southbound, made a sudden stop and was struck in the rear by a southbound pickup, driven by 20 year old Kathleen Smith, also of Hannibal.

Smith was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.

 

A Palmyra teenager suffers minor injuries in a one vehicle crash on Marion County Route U southwest of Palmyra at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Highway Patrol reports that a 16 year old juvenile from Palmyra was northbound and swerved to miss a deer, causing her Jeep to run off the road and overturn, coming to rest on its wheels.

The juvenile was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for treatment.

 

A Beardstown man is hurt and ticketed after an SUV crash on Pike County, Illinois Highway 2 at 450th Street just after 8 a.m. Saturday.

The Illinois State Police reports, 22 year old Armando Perez-Romero of Beardstown was westbound when his SUV left the road, went into a ditch, struck a culvert and hit a stop sign.

Perez-Romero was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Perez-Romero was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, no insurance and driving with a suspended license.
