Missouri Highway Patrol Offers Grim Warning for Labor Day Weekend
If you look forward to Labor Day Weekend, you're certainly in the majority. However, the Missouri Highway Patrol issued a grim warning about the upcoming holiday weekend and how to avoid catastrophe.
The press release just shared today by the Missouri Highway Patrol is not meant to be a downer. Sure, they want you to enjoy the upcoming Labor Day Weekend as much as possible, but they remind all of us what can happen and what has happened in recent years.
Here is a troubling statistic they shared from last year's Labor Day Weekend in Missouri:
15 people died and 477 were injured in 1,058 traffic crashes
They did the math and that translates into one person was killed or injured in Missouri just during the Labor Day Weekend every 9 1/2 minutes. Wow.
The potential trouble isn't just on the roads as it's also one of Missouri's biggest boating weekends, too.
Here's another concerning number shared by the Missouri Highway Patrol. They arrested 125 people for driving while intoxicated. I'm not your mama, but surely we can all do better about making a dangerous weekend in Missouri even worse.
The Missouri Highway Patrol shares this data every year in hopes that it will make people more aware of the dangers around them. For once, perhaps drivers and boaters can take this warning to heart and be more aware and keep the weekend safer for everyone.
