A chase through the twin Pikes results in the arrest of a Louisiana, Missouri man early Saturday morning.

Pike County, Illinois Sheriff David Greenwood reports deputies received a request to assist Louisiana Police in a vehicle pursuit that had crossed into Illinois.

The pursuit ended on a rural Pike County road east of Highway 96 south of New Canton, when James Lederle was shot by a Louisiana officer and taken into custody.

Lederle’s wound was non-life threatening and he refused medical treatment at the scene.

Lederle is lodged in the Pike County, Illinois Jail pending extradition to Missouri. Lederle is also wanted on a Pike County, Illinois warrant and a Missouri parole warrant.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
