SUV Motorcycle Collision Kills One

A Chicago area woman is dead following a motorcycle crash.

A collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle on US 24 in eastern Adams County at 9:13 Sunday morning claims the life of a Chicago area woman and leaves her husband with serious injuries. Adams County Coronoer Jim Keller says 52-year-old Karin Kirchman died of injuries sustained in the crash. 53-year-old Ronald Kirchman was taken to Blessing Hospital for treatment of major injuries.

Adams County Sheriff’s deputies say an SUV driven by 76-year-old Barbara Steinkamp of Camp Point went off the highway, overcorrected and struck the motorcycle. Steinkamp is charged with improper lane usage.

US 24 was closed for a time as authorities investigated the crash.
