So-called experts love to proclaim the most dangerous places in Missouri, but you don't hear as much about the safest cities. In Missouri, the place you'd most likely find a halo hovering over the city is not only the safest place in the state, but also has a trail that goes straight through it.

It's ironic that I found the safest place in Missouri on the most dangerous cities list shared by Population U. I've become exhausted with all of the constant mentions of how dangerous St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield are, so I decided to query their database for the opposite and what I found was interesting.

When you sort based purely on crime rate per person, you'll find this quaint Missouri place at the top of the good list. It's Cottleville, Missouri. The Population U database shows they have a miniscule crime rate of 1.74 for over 1,000 people.

Oh, and the famous Katy Trail goes straight through Cottleville, Missouri, too.

This is part of where the Katy Trail can be found in Cottleville as seen on Google Maps.

There does seem to be a slight uptick in violent crimes in Cottleville over the past year or two, so let's hope that this rather innocent part of Missouri continues to be a safe haven. Surely the state of Missouri could use more places like this one.
