A rural Payson man faces numerous charges after a traffic stop on the Plainville Blacktop at 1:24 a.m. Sunday.

Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop on a southbound pickup traveling at a high rate of speed.

The driver, 25 year old Shelton Laird, pulled into the driveway of a residence and was driving through a yard toward his own residence when he struck a tree.

Laird fled on foot and was located in a nearby field.

Laird was charged with DUI, fleeing and attempting to elude, speeding, reckless driving and resisting and obstructing a peace officer.
