Rain Slows Missouri Harvest Work
The corn harvest has been slowed a bit by wet weather in Northeast Missouri.
Rain and cooler weather kept many farmers out of the fields during the last week. The agriculture department reports that statewide, 12 percent of corn has been harvested. That’s up six percent from last year but 14 percent behind the five-year average. Corn is rated at 85 percent good to excellent, with soybeans at 72 percent. The rains have boosted pasture and topsoil conditions.
