Pike County MO Sheriff Investigates Black Church Break-In
The Pike County, Missouri Sheriff’s Department needs your help as it investigates a recent break in at a church in Frankford.
Sheriff Stephen Korte reports the caretaker of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Frankford discovered Tuesday the church had been broken into.
The caretaker reported the lock on the front door of the church had been broken, the sanctuary had been ransacked, a window had been broken and someone had rummaged through the kitchen area.
By Thursday, most of the damage had been fixed.
The historically black church has not hosted regular worship services for some time. An annual Choir Day event had been cancelled due to COVID-19.
Church leaders do not believe the break in was race related.
If you have information on the break in, you are asked to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Department at 573-324-3202.
