Trial Date Set in Pike County Murder Case
August 20 is the trial date for a man accused of killing his son in Pike County, Missouri.
46-year-old Michael Lee Phillips of Saint John is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and voluntary manslaughter. Phillips is accused of shooting 22-year-old Jeff Chisholm at a cabin on County Road 52 just off of Highway 61 between Bowling Green and Frankford.
Witnesses say the victim had been fighting with his father and other family members.
In a probable cause statement, Phillips allegedly told authorities that he had no other choice but to shoot his son.
He’s in the Pike County Jail on 200 thousand dollars cash-only bond.
