Pike County, MO Man Charged Following Domestic Disturbance Call
Pike County, Missouri authorities have called in the FBI after recovering what they say is a fully functioning machine gun.
The 30-caliber machine gun, other weapons, ammunition, a silencer and bulletproof vests were seized after a 911 call of a man threatening his family with a gun.
The incident allegedly happened at 9:12 p.m. Saturday at a rural home south of Curryville. 59-year-old James Dougherty is charged with armed criminal action, domestic assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was being held on 25 thousand dollars cash-only bond pending an arraignment Wednesday.
Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte called the FBI to inspect the machine gun. It’s a model that was widely used during the 20th century and still is in use in some countries.
Korte said additional charges may be filed.
