Palmyra Man Dies When Canoe Overturns on North River Sunday

A Palmyra man dies when his canoe capsizes Sunday afternoon on the North River upstream from Highway 61.

The Highway Patrol reports 39 year old Nathan Allen was eastbound, headed downstream about 4:15 p.m. Sunday when his canoe went over a low head dam and capsized.

Assisting the Highway Patrol were the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Palmyra and Hannibal Fire Departments and Marion County Ambulance.
