Marion County Commissioners approve replacement the See’s Creek Bridge near Ely on County Road 240.

Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode says Sharpe Excavating of Perry is the successful bidder on the project on the 104 foot long bridge. Cost will be just over $466,000. Work is expected to begin in May pending approval from MODOT with the new bridge in place by September.

The current bridge was built in 1921 and has a five ton weight limit. Bode says that while they’ve made some progress in replacing outdated bridges in the county, many more bridges need attention. 23 other bridges similar to or larger than the See's Creek Bridge need attention in Marion County along with many other smaller bridges.
