Football season continues for Hannibal, Palmyra, South Shelby, Centralia and Brookfield.

 

Hannibal 22 Mexico 14
Hannibal took the lead on the first play of the second quarter on a 45 yard run by Jerry McBride. Mexico answered with an 8 play, 80 yard drive. Spencer Thomas hit Cameron Holman with a 44 yard touchdown pass and a tie.. Defenses reigned until midway through the fourth quarter. Mexico took a 14-7 lead with a 6 play, 77 yard drive capped by a 59 yard run by Karsten Ekern. Hannibal responded in a big way. Jerry McBride returned the kickoff to the Bulldogs 48. From there it was the Shamar Griffith show. He changed the scoreboard three plays later with a 19 yard run. A two point conversion run for Griffith behind the blocking of Dylan Powell and the Pirates offensive line put Hannibal up 15-14. On Mexico's next play from scrimmage, Will Sewell forced and recovered a fumble. Sewell returned it 38 yards for a touchdown. Shamar Griffith had 98 yards on 20 carries. Jerry McBride 57 yards on 12 carries. Karsten Ekern wraps up his career with 152 yards on 26 carries.
